What to expect as a Team Leader

Team Leaders (TLs) are volunteer peer facilitators recruited for the summer, fall, and spring semesters to assist the Undergraduate Transition Seminars program with transitioning incoming first-year and transfer students to Georgia Tech.

TLs recruited for the fall and spring semesters can expect to volunteer two hours minimum (class contact and weekly preparation meeting).

TLs recruited for the summer semester have a longer in class time commitment to accommodate the two contact days per week schedule. TLs can expect to volunteer less than four hours minimum.

Additional time spent outside the above minimums should be discussed by the TL(s) and their instructor(s).

TLs are not TAs. They are not expected to grade any coursework, be left alone to teach the class without an instructor, or be asked to plan and deliver excessive amounts of content.

TLs are expected to, as agreed upon between them and their instructor(s), be involved in every class period, facilitate part or all of an activity or presentation based on their areas of experience and interest, meet and talk with their instructor(s) at least once a week, and serve the entire semester (excluding finals week).
