Become A Team Leader Ambassador
The Team Leader Ambassador (TLA) role is a paid position. Students work between 5-7 hours a week. As an Ambassador of the Undergraduate Transition Seminars (GT 1000 and GT 2000), you'll be a part of a team that works to prepare new and returning Team Leaders (TLs) for the tasks of supporting incoming first-year and transfer students while also building an active TL community.
QUALIFICATIONS
Students must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of one semester serving as GT 1000 or GT 2000 Team Leader
- Minimum 2.5 overall GPA
- Good Standing with Instructor Performance Evaluation
- Strong time management skills
- Strong organization skills
- Strong oral communication skills
- Enthusiastic demeanor and dedication to the mission of GT 1000 & GT 2000 Program
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must be able to serve a minimum of two consecutive semesters (i.e. Fall-Spring or Summer-Fall)
- Serve as mentors and advisors for a designated group of current GT 1000 and GT 2000 TLs
- Serve as a GT 1000 or GT 2000 Team Leader, if time permits
- Attend weekly team meetings and biweekly initiative meetings
- Attend biweekly initiative meeting
- Develop programs and workshops to support GT 1000 and GT 2000 TLs
- Aid in the continuous development of all GT 1000 and GT 2000 TLs
- Attend, participate in, and assist in coordination of TL application reviews, interviews, orientation, training, and recognition and social events
- Lead the initiative for recruitment and development, marketing and promotion, events and planning, or success and retention
TLA INITIATIVES (FORMERLY COMMITTEES)
Each ambassador leads an initiative. A summary of what each initiative focuses on is below.
Recruitment and Development
The Ambassador who leads the recruitment and development initiative helps develop the online Canvas orientation, leads the planning of the in-person orientation and training, organizes recruitment outreach efforts, and leads the spring interview cycle. This initiative focuses on before students are fully onboarded.
Success and Retention
The Ambassador who leads the success and retention initiative focuses on how to support students after they are onboarded into the program. The Ambassador is expected to initiate professional development opportunities with other TLAs for each semester. This initiative also involves surveying the TL experience throughout the program and fostering a TL community to increase success and retention and establish belonging.
Marketing and Promotion
The Ambassador who leads the marketing and promotion initiative manages the social media presence of the GT 1000 and GT 2000 program on Instagram and develops marketing materials for TL related events.
Events and Planning
The Ambassador who leads the events and planning initiative is responsible for the initial concept, scope of event needs, and the execution of TL recognition and social events. Current major events include Swag Day and Spring Celebration. This initiative also includes Week of Welcome and developing a database of possible events to be used by other TLAs for their assigned TLs.
